DANNY CANNON

Danny Cannon is a British film and television director, writer and executive producer, born and raised in Luton, England. He is best known for his work on the groundbreaking series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which he directed the pilot of and served as an executive producer, writer/director across the franchise, including CSI: Miami and CSI: NY spinoffs. The show became a 15-season global phenomenon and evolved into a billion-dollar franchise.

Cannon is one of the few television pilot directors who is also a key writer. Over the course of his career, he has directed 16 television pilots—13 of which were picked up to series, including Gotham (FOX), Pennyworth (HBO), Nikita (CW), Training Day (CBS), Dark Blue (TNT), The Forgotten (ABC), The Tomorrow People (CW) and The Eleventh Hour (CBS) - see IMDB for more

Cannon began making films as a teenager, winning the BBC Young Filmmaker of the Year Award, where Alan Parker served as a judge and became an early supporter of his work. Upon graduating from the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, England, his work quickly drew attention in Hollywood, launching a feature career while he was still in his twenties. He made his film debut with The Young Americans, followed by the big-budget Sylvester Stallone action film Judge Dredd, and the cult favorite I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Building on his primetime success with Jerry Bruckheimer’s CSI, Cannon went on to develop another hit series -- Gotham, which he directed from its pilot and continued to executive produce, write, and direct throughout its five-season run on FOX. The series received multiple Emmy nominations, including a win, and the Critics' Choice Award for 'Most Exciting New Series'.

From 2019-2022, Cannon returned to England to direct and executive produce HBO's Pennyworth, for a three season run.
